Under the direction of Takis Psarakis, Cretan House president, a lecture series entitled “Health of your Heart” was given to over 60 members of the Cretan society by two Greek American Cardiologist. Dr. Apostolos Voudouris from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical school and North Jersey Hellenic Health Professionals spoke on prevention of heart related disease and in particular, rhythm related disorders. Dr Elias Iliadis from Cooper University Hospital and Hellenic Medical Society of Philadelphia presented the benefits of the Cretan and Mediterranean diet for prevention of heart disease. The lectures were followed by many excellent questions as well as blood pressure readings for the members.
